Anna Kate’s surgeon had to remove her right lung and as Anna Kate’s parents first heard the news they thought it meant their precious daughter had passed away. They were admittedly in shock that an infant could survive without a lung, but fortunately Anna Kate was in the right hands and was recovering in the hospital’s Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.

The road to recovery has been long and challenging for Anna. On three separate occasions her family had to say goodbye to her; through each of those times Anna Kate fought through.

Now age four, Ana Kate literally fights to recover every single day. She does it with the biggest smile and most infectious laugh.  Just watching her determination to overcome near death conditions on multiple occasions along with developmental delays, inspires everyone around her.

Just as Anna Kate has never quit, the same can be said for the doctors and nurses at her Together for Kids hospital. Anna Kate is possibly the only child in the world with her circumstances so you can imagine the level of expertise it takes to be involved in her care. Without them, Anna Kate’s dad Neil says he is convinced his daughter wouldn't be here today.

The doctors, nurses and staff at Mission Children's Hospital never stopped fighting for Anna Kate and neither should we. Neil says he wants all of us to know that the dollars given to Mission Children's Hospital literally saved Anna Kate's life, just as the dollars given by you tonight are going to literally save the lives of other children in need of care.
